There’s a lot of overwhelming things in our society right now. War, riots, violence, political discord, addiction, bullying, feelings of worthlessness. It can be easy to feel worn down. I know I struggle with pessimism and wonder whether pain will ever be optional. But I was reading my Bible this week, and discovered an incredible truth.
“When you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
Here’s the thing. The Lord doesn’t say “IF” you pass through rivers and walk through fire, he says “WHEN.” The world will always be broken. You will always face trial, and this is NOT surprising to Jesus. But He will be WITH you through these seasons of struggle.
“We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God.”
“God is within her she will NOT fall, God will help her at the break of day.”
If you’re going through a difficult time, please know that you aren’t alone. And it isn’t surprising to the Lord. We all struggle-even the celebs on Instagram who post only the highlights of their life. Remember: social media doesn’t tell the entire story for any of us.
As you go through this week, remember Jesus is GREATER than our pain, our brokenness, our shame, and our sin. He has you in this season for a reason, and it won’t last forever. But you must be prepared to always face hardships on earth because this isn’t our forever home. We are going to heaven where there will be “no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4b). May we remember that everything on this earth is temporary, and Jesus has a greater plan.
