I Don’t Wait Anymore: Letting Go of Expectations and Grasping God’s Adventure For You by Grace Thornton
From the publisher: “In I Don’t Wait Anymore, Grace Thornton Challenges readers to find their calling and purpose from God and go after it with completely committed hearts. Have you been waiting for life to turn out the way you expected? You are not alone.
“A lot hinges on whether we see God as a means to an end or an end in Himself.”
Review and Reflection: This book was exceptional. I finished it in three days, because I felt like Grace was reading my mind! She writes with gut-wrenching honesty about singleness. I found myself completely inspired and intrigued with her life and relationship with the Lord. Grace is refreshingly honest about her struggles with giving up control a her life, and finding God’s goodness even in the difficult “waiting” seasons of life. Though the book is centered on her journey as a single Christian woman, the Biblical truths can easily be applied to any type of “waiting” season. I found myself highlighting paragraphs throughout the book, and constantly mumbling “WOW” because the book was so rich with spiritual wisdom. Grace has a way of relating to her readers by presenting the truths the Lord has been teaching her without being pretentious or preachy in the slightest. Her vulnerability is shocking and her phrasing is beautiful.
Recommendations: This book is perfect for any woman in their twenties who might feel a little out of place. The book is geared towards single women, but the truths can absolutely apply to anyone who struggles with needing to identify a “plan” for their life. While Grace is in her mid-thirties, I would recommend this book for a younger audience (high school/college/20’s), because most of her personal stories took place when she was in her twenties, and her phrasing is more simple. If you are a word nerd (like me) then you will appreciate her beautiful phrases and descriptions. I was very impressed! This will definitely be a book that I return to at least once a year. I can honestly say that once I finished it, I felt like it was time to start from the beginning again! READ THIS BOOK.
